Our specialized training in airway health, tethered oral tissues, and growth guidance came from searching for answers for our own families - and now we're here to help yours. Every child is unique. We look at structure, function, habits, and development to treat the root cause, not just the symptoms.

Experience rooted in both professional training and personal understanding

This is personal for me. My roots are in family dentistry but my passion is in airway, growth guidance and tethered oral tissues. While I have always been fascinated with oral systemic health, my journey into the world of tethered oral tissues, airway dentistry and growth guidance really began with the birth of my son. I have been where you are now, a parent searching for answers and solutions for my own children, concerns that had been missed or misdiagnosed elsewhere. I have seen first hand the power of tongue tie release and collaborative care with my own children.

As a family dentist, I have had the privilege of working with patients from different generations. Everyday I see the impact of airway dysfunction can have on my patient’s health - difficulty with infant feeding/ nursing, crowded teeth, tooth decay, obstructive sleep apnea and other chronic health concerns. Common issues children experience including snoring, ADHD, poor attention and concentration, difficulties with emotional regulation, recurrent ear infections, prolonged bed wetting, speech and feeding concerns, teeth grinding, crowded teeth and more can often be symptoms of a bigger, underlying problem – dysfunctional breathing and poor sleep. While it is never too late to make a change for your health, it is often much easier and less complex to address these issues early on.

Approximately 60% of craniofacial growth is completed around age 6. We want to take advantage of this malleable period where we can optimize the growth of our children’s teeth, airway and jaws. If we are proactive, we can set them up for a lifetime of straight teeth, healthy nasal breathing and good sleep. Some patients require simple myofunctional therapy exercises to improve oral tone and posture. We help others optimize growth with oral appliances or oral tie release. Less frequently, patients require a referral to an ENT and or a sleep study. Our team is educated and skilled to assess your child’s oral structures and function to provide personalized, evidence based treatment.

Education that goes beyond dental school

I graduated from the Ohio Institute of Health Careers in 2007 as a certified dental assistant with my radiology license. I spent over 11 years working in both periodontics and general dentistry, gaining extensive hands-on experience in oral health, patient care, and interdisciplinary dental treatment. After taking time away to welcome my child, my professional focus evolved in a deeply personal way.

My passion for airway-centered care began in 2019 when my son was born with laryngomalacia and oral ties. Navigating his early challenges opened my eyes to the profound impact of airway, oral function, and proper muscle development on overall health. This experience led me to pursue advanced education in myofunctional therapy.

In 2024, I completed my myofunctional therapy training through MyoMentor, founded by Sarah Hornsby, co-director of the Myofunctional Therapy Department at The Breathe Institute. I have since completed many additional hours of continuing education, including training in frenectomy protocols, MyoMunchee, and advanced myofunctional therapy coaching.

I am proud to be a member of the MyoMentor Myofunctional Therapy Ambassador Program, allowing me to stay continuously updated on current research, techniques, and best practices in the ever-evolving field of myofunctional therapy. I am dedicated to providing informed, compassionate, and evidence-based care, helping patients of all ages improve function, breathing, and overall quality of life.
